Agence Mongolie Nomad Planet

Nomad Planet Team

Since its set-up, Nomad Planet has succeeded in building a loyal team of experienced Mongolian staff. What they have in common is their passion for introducing you to their country and its culture! From the Gobi Desert, though the central steppes and the Altai mountains, to the Siberian region of Lake Hovsgol, the Nomad Planet team guides you to the best sites in Mongolia.

Office staff

From when you first contact us to your arrival in Mongolia, Munkhe, Bata and Zula carry out all the necessary steps, on a daily basis, to put together a tour that is tailored to your needs. During your stay, they ensure that your tour runs smoothly and that you are totally satisfied. Their professionalism in dealing with your requests and specific needs, as well as their responsiveness, are real assets.

Munkh-Erdene Khurelbaatar (Munkhe): born in 1977 in the steppes of southern Mongolia. He studied international trade at university-level in China and France. His 10 years spent abroad enabled him to have a different perspective on his own culture and deepen his knowledge of other cultural worlds. It was while serving as a guide to foreign friends in Mongolia that he first discovered the wonders of his country and wanted to share them with new travellers. He perfected his experience by acting as a tour guide for Mongolian travel agencies, then created the tour operator Nomad Planet with his brother Bata in 2007.  He currently lives in Paris. Munkh-Erdene bridges the boundaries between two worlds – he will be your main contact right from the beginning to listen to and meet your travel requirements.

Munkhbat Khurelbaatar (Bata): born in 1984 in Baruun-Urt. Following a degree in tourism and international relations from the Mongolian University of Human Science, he joined his brother from the very start-up of Nomad Planet. During his studies, he travelled the roads of Mongolia with Japanese and French tourists, so nowadays Mongolian tourism has no secret for him. He sees to it that your trip in Mongolia goes smoothly.

Munkhzul Darizav (Zula): born in 1974. With a law degree from the National University of Mongolia, she previously practised as a lawyer and distinguished herself with her work for an association against domestic violence by implementing the new law to protect female victims in Mongolia, which was passed by parliament in 2006. Munkh-Zul is the mother of two children and lives in Ulan Bator. She is in charge of administration in our Mongolian office and ensures the compliance of our company's contractual relations.

Field staff

In Mongolia, there is no recognized training for the professions of tour guide and interpreter. Be they local or equestrian guides, interpreters or drivers, all of our field staff were chosen for their experience in guiding tourist groups.

Our interpreters are often language teachers and were recruited according to several criteria: language level, general knowledge, and people skills. They are suitably prepared prior to each of their tours.

Particular attention has been accorded to selecting our drivers. In a country like Mongolia, track knowledge, mechanical skills and our drivers' professionalism guarantee the quality of our tours.

Our local guides and our equestrian guides are always from the countryside and have maintained the nomadic lifestyle. They guide you perfectly through the paths of their region, and take care of the pack animals and the horses and camels that you ride.

Our organisation

Since we do not want to leave anything to chance and want to avoid improvisation, all the components of your trip – accommodation, transport, food – have been thought out and organised for your comfort.

Accommodation

In Ulan Bator – "Three-star" hotel located in the centre of Ulan Bator.

In the countryside – Three possible accommodation types depending on the availability of the type of stay and the infrastructure:

Nomadic family homestay
Guest yurt with maximum 5 beds pitched up next to the family yurt
"Hole in the ground" WC in a wood cabin near the camp

NB: Our nomadic families were selected for their genuine desire to share their culture and way of life with their guests.

In a tourist camp
2 or 4 persons per yurts
Hot shower and WC to European standards
Large communal yurt for dining

In a bivouac
French "Quechua" tents / 3-person tent for 2 people
Individual self-inflating ground-mats
"Mess" tent, chairs and folding tables for dining

Transport

We provide you with "4x4" vehicles such as the Toyota Land Cruiser or the Mitsubishi Delica, depending on the size of the group. All vehicles are insured, and carefully prepared prior to departure.

Food

Varied food: Mongolian dishes to enjoy the local culinary culture and Western dishes to ensure diversity.
Provisions are mainly procured in Ulan Bator and topped-up in small provincial towns for fresh produce.

Our services

Booking your airline tickets: There are currently direct flights to Ulan Bator from Berlin, Moscow, Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo. These flights are operated by Mongolian (MIAT), Russian (Aeroflot) and Chinese (Air China) airlines. There is also a route between Huhhot (the capital of the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia) and Ulan Bator and a route between Ulan Bator and Irkutsk (the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Buryatia) operated by a small Mongolian airline (AeroMongolia). There are not many flights and due to increasing numbers of tourists, it is becoming difficult to find a ticket, especially in the summer - the high season for tourism. From Europe, the simplest way to travel to Mongolia is to go via Moscow with Aeroflot or via Berlin with MIAT. It is also possible to take a Europe-Beijing flight, then Beijing-Ulan Bator.

We can assist our customers in booking airline tickets for Mongolia. In this case, once you have chosen your itinerary, contact us with your preferred outward and return dates.

Booking your train tickets: Through its Moscow and Beijing branches, the Nomad Planet team can book your train tickets to Mongolia and from Mongolia to these destinations. In order to take advantage of this free service, please inform our French representative of your departure date.

Assistance in obtaining your Mongolian visa: The Nomad Planet team can assist you in obtaining your Mongolian visa, by providing you with the necessary documents such as the invitation letter etc.
